Golden Fish in a Desert Oil on Canvas (100 x 70 x 1.4) Donated by emerging Lithuanian artist ANETA CHABIBULINA
In her piece of art for The Water and Food Organisation, Aneta Chabibulina is expressing the unpleasantness of a well known long-lasting world’s situation, the lack of water and food for some populations. The strong and instantaneous contrast between the wealthy spoiled woman enjoying water and fresh fruits in a dry desert territory served by two kids has the goal to shake our consciences and to stimulate our deep consideration concerning the problem.

Ernst von Franck, Bayer CropScience Nordic Countries, Managing Director, Bayer A/S:“Our company slogan is “Science for a Better Life”. As an enterprise we certainly need to earn money – but not without a purpose! At the same time our business activities need to contribute to the social wellbeing and to protecting the environment. This means that our activities need to show positive results at each of these three bottom lines. Without a positive triple bottom line no activity is sustainable. The Humanitarian Water and Food award is awarding initiatives, which not only improve access to water and food as a charitable activity but support initiatives that at the same time create economic value and respect/protect the environment. By doing so The WAF is supporting truly sustainable projects, which contribute positively to the triple bottom line and will not come to an end in times when charity funds run out.
This one of the reasons why Bayer CropScience is supporting The WAF and is even exploring the possibility to turn this support into a sustainable business case, which is contributing also to our triple bottom line: economically, environmentally and socially!”
